From 13th to 15th September 2019, we camped traditionally in the courtyard of Alden Biesen Castle, home of the 34th Scottish Weekend, one of the largest Scottish events on the European continent, featuring Highland Games, Market and Scottish Meals.
In our historic camp we had many nice conversations with visitors about Scotland, the Scots, the whisky and much more. As always, there was the opportunity to hold a real Scottish sword in your hands.
Especially popular this year were our ladies, who were busy with the embroidery of various garments and our flags. A handcraft that many visitors – especially the younger ones – had never seen before.
Highlights of the weekend included our twice-daily shows, where we presented the historic clothing of the Scots and their weapons. In cooperation with the Vikings of the “black wolf” ( facebook.com/svartirulfarnir) also guests in the castle’s inner yard, there were even big show comats to see.
